XC-Host — Support Blog

First off Thank You for reading this. At about 10:45am EST the server went down. I got a txt message from a hostee/friend vis msn messenger that his email was down. I looked into it further and I couldn’t get in to cPanel or login to ssh.

So I went and contacted the host. They got back to me within about 30 seconds saying they were looking into it.

10 minutes later I get a reply back saying that most of the operating system files had been removed. The only option to salvage the server was to reload the os. The backup drive looked like it was okay…

4 hours later Cent OS 5 and cPanel have been installed and I am currently restoring accounts. I have backups from last night. I am only able to restore the weekly backups (which should have been last night) but if anyone has any problems after the restore is complete please open a ticket over at www.xc-host.com/?page=support and I will look into it personally.

Please be patient. While I am restoring accounts and getting the server secured.

UPDATE: April 23, 2008

Things seem to be okay now. All the accounts have been restored, added some more security. If you have any problems whatsoever please use the support page (linked above) and I will fix the problem asap.
